The countdown to the year's best sculptural, 3-D art fair, SOFA, begins Friday evening, as a handful of River North galleries open their doors to gallery hoppers for one more evening out before we we have to worry about where to put our winter coats. Called A Superior Stroll, the evening offers opportunities to preview works and mediums that will be featured at the fair in November. Enjoy the chance to visit the galleries, have a glass of wine, meet featured guests and talk to the dealers while they're not yet in their frenzied art fair floor mode. Also, spread the word that you can show up at Club Lago (corner of Superior and Orleans) and get a special offer if you say you were on the Stroll...
Participating galleries are open Friday, October 1, from 5:30-7:30pm. They include: Ken Saunders Gallery, Perimeter Gallery, Ann Nathan Gallery, Carl Hammer Gallery, and Judy A Saslow Gallery. Exibition information and gallery hours may be found here.
The 17th Annual Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair: SOFA Chicago 2010 and The Intuit Show of Folk and Outsider Art take place November 5-7, 2010 at Navy Pier's Festival Hall. SOFA Chicago showcases contemporary decorative arts and design; The Intuit Show presents a rich selection of folk and outsider art.
