CHRISTMAS WITH LARRY FLYNT—AN ORIGINAL STORY BY JOHN CAIN (WITH SOME REALLY FUNNY PARTS BY JIM WEST)

A Message from John Cain ...

I first read this salacious story about a scandalous episode in my early adult life in 2001, just two months after 9/11—my tact has always left something to be desired. It’s 20 years later, Mr. Flynt just recently passed away, porn is more available than ever, and I figure there must be a whole new generation of literary-minded people who crave a little X-rated content from me.

What Jim and I wrote 20 years ago is not strictly speaking a holiday story, although Christmas does figure into it. It's really a story about my first adult job. You might say it was an adults-only job, because it was working for Larry Flynt in Columbus, Ohio, in 1977. The Flynt corporate headquarters were on Gay Street, just one over from Broad.

Twenty years ago, I made a point of noting that, prior to the events in this story, I didn't know who he was and had never laid eyes on his magazine. All true, but so what? I apologize for nothing.

So, please join us for Christmas with Larry Flynt ... a revealing holiday reading.
