On the occasion of the publication of his book, Street Portraits, Dawoud Bey will join writer, musician and producer Greg Tate in conversation followed by a book signing. Tate, who wrote the book's corresponding essay, will present a glimpse into his thoughts on Bey's 1988-1991 series, which focused on portraits of African Americans in various American cities through the lens of a large format tripod-mounted camera. Bey and Tate will also discuss Bey's larger practice and coinciding solo exhibition at Stephen Daiter Gallery.
