A co-presentation of UChicago Presents and the Department of Music, the “SOUND/SITES” series explores the sonic implications of different spaces on the UChicago campus and the meaning of place in music and performance. In the second installment of the series, cellist Seth Parker Woods, Artist-in-Residence at the University of Chicago Department of Music and at the Kaufman Music Center in New York, explores what he calls “the unabashed celebration of the Black and Brown experience” through the music of Fredrick Gifford, Monty Adkins, Alvin Singleton, and Nathalie Joachim.
 
In this performance, Woods showcases the Renaissance Society gallery and its distinctive acoustics, performing music by Fredrick Gifford and Alvin Singleton surrounded by Haig Aivazian’s exhibition All of the Lights.
 
SOUND/SITES premieres on Friday, February 26 at 7:00 pm central time, and it will be available until 11:59 pm central time on Sunday, February 28. Tickets for the stream are $15 and can be purchased by visiting tickets.uchicago.edu.
