Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA)
The Wisconsin Triennial is a cornerstone of MMoCA’s exhibition calendar. Every three years the exhibition charts the latest art being made across the state, capturing the richness and variety of artistic expression in Wisconsin. The final selection of 24 artists from across the state represents a wide range of artistic approaches and subjects. From painting to performance and figurative to formal abstraction, the exhibition reflects the rich diversity of Wisconsin’s visual arts scene.

Join the gallery for a conversation between Artists Damon Locks and Andres L. Hernandez. A Closing Reception for Damon Locks' Exhibition "We Are Our People / Listen To This" will follow until 4pm
Andres L. Hernandez is a conceptual artist and educator who explores models for imagining and existing otherwise. Inspired by the cultural, knowledge, and spatial production of African-descent peoples, his practice encompasses collaborative, socially-engaged, and independent artmaking. Damon Locks is a Chicago-based visual artist, educator, vocalist/musician. Since 2014 he has been working with the Prisons and Neighborhood Arts Project at Stateville Correctional Center teaching art.

In their performance -lalia, Dorota Gawęda and Eglė Kulbokaitė conjure a legendary figure from Slavic folklore, the demonic Południca. Posing a metaphor for contemporary anxieties related to ecological and social unease, this work is a dynamic hybrid combination of physical presence, text, and video.
