A Conversation With Gordon Segal (Online)

Thursday, Nov 11, 2021 6 – 7 pm

In 1962 in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, Gordon and Carole Browe Segal opened the doors to a modestly-financed outlet with one goal: offer striking designs and products at reasonable prices. The shop? Crate & Barrel.

In this program presented by Chicago Collections Consortium (CCC), Gordon Segal unpacks the rise of this Chicago-born, internationally-prominent retailer and the unique resources of the Crate & Barrel archives. Archivists Kevin Leonard (Northwestern University), Jeanne Long (CCC), and Brandon Radonski (BS, Northwestern’s Segal Design Center), join the conversation.
