Adrian Wong: READING ROOM REVISITED. Beginning September 24, Adrian Wong—in collaboration with Lynn Schuster, a noted telepathic animal communicator—will be offering telepathic readings to those interested in learning more about their pets (living or deceased). These readings, which present animal spirits the opportunity to commission a unique artwork, will be conducted via online video conferencing service with both the artist and Schuster through the end of the 2020. For each completed reading, Wong will develop a maquette, tabletop model, or small canvas based on the specifications provided by the animal. These small artworks may then be re-developed into full-sized commissions in collaboration with the participant, artist, animal communicator, and pet.

In conjunction with READING ROOM REVISITED, Carrie Secrist Gallery will host a by-appointment-only exhibition of recent work at their space located in the West Loop. This physical exhibition will feature previous collaborative projects, as well as sculptures from a new series that Wong has recently completed.

READING ROOM REVISITED is a continuation of Wong’s solo presentation at the 2020 Armory Show, completed days before a state of emergency was declared and New York City shut down. Driven by his interest in contemporary mysticism and New Age spiritual practices, Wong’s research has run the gamut from Taoist geomancy, to secret societies in the American rust belt, to birthday clown alchemy guilds. He has worked with practitioners in the field of animal communication since 2012 and has collaborated with the Institute of Animal Communication (Hong Kong) and Gurney Institute of Animal Communication (Los Angeles) on various projects in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. EXHIBITION Weekend is a digital initiative that convenes Chicago-based contemporary art galleries and leading institutions, featuring current exhibitions, curatorial projects, and artist programs.
