Artist Talk: Kambua Chema and Suzanne Metzel

Thursday, Jun 16, 2022 7 – 8 pm

1310 Chicago Ave.
Evanston, IL 60201

This June, Perspective Gallery is pleased to present recent work by one of its newest members, Kambua Chema; and, by one of its founding members, Suzanne Metzel.

Kambua Chema’s collection of images, Postcards of Morocco, are a snapshot of moments throughout Morocco printed on Hahnemühle paper. Each image presents a unique personal experience that provides a sense of place and keepsake in the form of a picture postcard from a place that has come to feel like home to her.

Suzanne Metzel’s series, Still Life, is a collection of photopolymer gravure prints of natural subjects. With the help of UV light, these images have been transferred to steel-backed plates which are then inked and printed by hand with an etching press. The technique is the perfect vehicle to reveal nature’s inherent beauty.

The exhibit opens on Thursday, June 2 with a public reception on Saturday, June 4 from 5-7 p.m.  Chema and Metzel will give an artist talk on June 16. The show closes June 26.
