Artist Talk: Nelson Armour

Nelson W. Armour’s series, titled 28 Days, explores his progress through radiation treatments for prostate cancer. The work arose from issues and emotions related to longevity, trauma, malignancy, loss and the future, stemming from his diagnosis and subsequent 28 days of treatment. On his drive to the hospital each day, Armour stopped at South Beach in Evanston and photographed the same scene, with its variability, its moods, its challenges and its colors. Accompanying these images in the exhibit are constructed works exploring how advanced technologies impact people’s health.
