Make plans to join us online this coming Thursday, September 11 at 7pm, for a virtual artists' talk for our current exhibition. Gallery members Paula Shur and Chris Walker will be discussing their show, jointly titled Fragments and Shadows, and their diverging artistic responses to a world in flux.
Shur will be discussing A World Undone, and providing insight into her semi-abstract composites that place familiar forms in uncomfortable or unlikely spaces. Her images speak to the notion that the world, as we know it, is becoming increasingly fractured and her compositions hold a deep sense of psychological unease and societal volatility.
Walker will talk about Alchemy, a series in which he retreats to the analog and the meditative process of wet plate collodion photography. His botanical studies move beyond traditional decorative imagery, conjuring resilience from the dormant and damaged.
This free artists' talk will take place online via Zoom. Pre-registration is required and can be accessed via this link.
