chance encounters for a third try: attempting a house party on the moon

Saturday, Jul 18, 2020 7 – 11 pm

You and your loved ones are invited to the third attempt at a house party on the moon. This attempted house party is dedicated to systems of cultural production.

chance encounters for a third try: attempting a house party on the moon is a performance architecture in which my flat in Chicago has been reconstructed on the surface of the moon. This work was produced for the group exhibition Another Idea, an actual conceptual art exhibition, organized by Zachary Cahil and Mike Schuh for the Gray Center for Arts and Inquiry at the University of Chicago.

A link to the party will be published on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 7PM CST on the exhibition's website: https://graycenter.uchicago.edu/projects/another-idea

These attempted house parties are live events that will not be documented with either video or audio recording.

So come, have a drink, listen to the DJ’s music, dance, be a wallflower, smoke on the porch, catch another’s eyes, and have a chance encounter. Let’s talk about what we care most about, let’s imagine the future, and contend with what we never really left behind. Let's bring the moon down to earth, and transport daily social life to the cosmos. Maybe we’ll find new comrades, maybe we’ll find work, maybe we'll find life together, in many ways we will surely fail.

After all, right now we are all beside ourselves.
