Filter Photo is pleased to announce Context 2019, our annual spring open call for lens-based work. This year the exhibition was juried by Ariel Pate, Assistant Curator of Photography, Milwaukee Art Museum.

Context 2019 opens March 22 with an artists reception March 29 at Filter Space and will remain open through April 27, 2019.

 

About the Juror


Ariel Pate is the Assistant Curator of Photography at the Milwaukee Art Museum. She was a Curatorial Assistant at the Art Institute of Chicago in the Department of Photography and worked with Medtronic’s corporate art collection. Recent projects include the Art Institute’s Alfred Stieglitz Collection: Photographs website (2016). She holds an M.A. in Curatorial Studies from the J.W. Goethe University and Staedelschule in Frankfurt, Germany.

 

Theme


Juror and curator Ariel Pate will consider all types of photographic work for this fifth annual survey exhibition of contemporary photography.  This open theme allows for the widest understanding of the medium and current photographic practices. She is open to all interpretations and will accept photography and video.
