Metropolitan Capital invites you to join us for a virtual walk through the newest exhibition, “Innovation + Collaboration,” on display at our office located in the historic Tree Studios. The event will feature a live Q&A with the artists, Kathie Shaw and Corey Postiglione.

Chicago artists Kathie Shaw and Corey Postiglione are a married couple who have shared a studio for over ten years. In the studio is where they have been able to interact around the practice of painting. They are able to share ideas, consult with each other and help motivate and inspire each other. They share ideas about technique as well as thoughts regarding the “why” behind what they are doing. Their art practices become collaborative and as a result, have become essential and important to both artists. This meaningful and mutual connection offers positive and supportive encouragement as each continue to develop as an artist. Their personal and working relationship demonstrates how two artists who live and work together can help mentor each other and provide opportunities for each other - very similar to the famous relationships of artists like Jackson Pollack and Lee Krasner; Willem and Elaine De Kooning; and Alfred Steiglitz and Georgia O'Keeffe.

Together they represent the prolific modern-day working Chicago artist couple. While their work may not be similar in style, the dialogue these paintings share when installed together is noticeable and noteworthy.
