Dawtas | Mirror, Mirror Presented by Yasmin Spiro

Join us for the hybrid in-person/virtual performance Dawtas | Mirror, Mirror, a collaborative project led by Jamaican artist Yasmin Spiro. This performance brings together dancers and sound artists performing with and within Dawtas—a series of sculptures the artist has been creating for over 15 years. The project is influenced by the work of Jamaican dancer and cultural historian Rex Nettleford, and is tied to notions of identity in Jamaica and the Caribbean—considering ritual in dance, bodies in relation to history and land, gender, identity, spiritualism, and mysticism. Featured performers include Jamila Raegan, Anthony Lovejoy, and sound artist DJ Major Taylor.

The in-person event will require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test to attend.
