Wednesday, April 28
5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Join Zakia Rowlett to explore how handlettering can be used to give a tone to text, add personality to communications, bring depth to the meaning of words, and harmonize form with function.
Working with a single word you’ll develop your own typeface for it, using elements of graphic design to impact how someone will respond to reading it. You’ll explore how these methods are applied to commercial branding and logo design, and how you can apply them to your own creative projects.
Zakia Rowlett is an artist and designer specializing in logo, branding, book design, and posters. She will guide us through her analog hand lettering process, from the sketching and ideation phase through to refining the final letterforms. She will also demo how to use a tablet to experiment with custom letterforms and digital typography.
Note: We’ve moved this Drink & Draw up to 5pm to allow you to take advantage of daylight (nature’s light box).
