Dru Batte is a multidisciplinary artist who employs a variety of analog and digital photographic processes and materials in her work.
In this collection, entitled "Through the Curtain", Batte seeks to answer the question of how to make a portrait without the person being in front of the camera. To make that happen, Batte conducts series of interviews with the subjects that inform each photograph. As a result, the photographs investigate depictions of the human subjects embodied in the spaces they occupy and the works they make within, delivering a visual discourse on formed relationships between artists and their workspace.
