Family Day: Flower Power

Saturday, Feb 2, 2019 1 – 4 pm

The University of Chicago

Free and Open to the Public

Art-making supplies and other materials are provided. Family programs are best for kids 4–12, but all ages are welcomed! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Family Days at the Smart Museum are designed to celebrate the creative potential in all of us. With new projects every month, Family Days offer opportunities for kids and their caregivers to create together and connect with one another. Each program is unique, fun, and free, emphasizing invention, improvisation, and hands-on creativity.

This Saturday, brighten up your winter with some flower-based art. Learn how to create colorful 'flower power' portraits, make headdresses from silk flowers, and even use floral-like stencils on paper. The activities are inspired by a giant new wallpaper workby Bethany Collins in the Smart Museum's lobby as well as floral flourishes found throughout the galleries.
