THIS EVENT WILL BE LIVE-STREAMED ONLINE

Given ongoing public health concerns, our spring programs will be presented online in reimagined formats.

Hoa Nguyen is the recipient of a 2019 Pushcart Prize and was nominated for the 2017 Griffin Poetry Prize. The author of Violet Energy Ingots and other books, she writes complex poems that find their footholds in everyday experience, the slippages of language, and the natural world. Often compact on the page but spacious in their experimental range, Nguyen’s poems conjure memorable images and the inner wilds of thought, while developing a kind of concentrated power. Nguyen’s poems, like Miho Dohi’s sculptures, take shape as fragmentary forms that hold together tightly; each enacts a lively off-balancing of their chosen materials, whether language or tactile things.

For this online program, Nguyen presents her poems in a special home-recorded reading, available on our website beginning May 7. A link to this audio recording will appear on: https://renaissancesociety.org/events/1262/hoa-nguyen/?mc_cid=4c8c652a68&mc_eid=375d06b725
