Imagining Chicago’s Future: A Film Screening & Conversation

Repurposing archival footage from the Chicago Film Archives’s (CFA) extensive collection, visual artist zakkiyyah najeebah dumas o’neal with composer Ayana Contreras present to render the infinite, a film that centers Black women’s cultural contributions to Chicago, Black lesbian experiences, and notions of belonging. Following the screening, o’neal and Contreras discuss how the creative process allows for one to imagine a different Chicago. This program is presented as a collaboration between Chicago Humanities Festival and CFA.
