Ingrained in Wisconsin

October 10, 2021–February 20, 2022

Presented in connection with Bernard Langlais: Live and Let Live On, this exhibition explores traditional and contemporary practices of working in wood.

Ingrained in Wisconsin will feature a tool wall and Zine Library by Taylor Wright Rushing as well as an interactive art piece by Matthew Gramling. A portion of the gallery will highlight work selected from an open call for objects made from wood by regional makers.

Utilizing a common natural resource, woodworkers produce both utilitarian and decorative objects—sometimes within the same piece. The artists featured in this gallery use historical techniques or push the boundaries of what wood can do. This exhibition asks visitors to consider the wonders of a material that is all around us.
