Keiichi Tanaami's Red Shade presents a whirlwind of animated childhood memories of World War II interspersed with images of Western pop. Produced when the artist was 85 years old, the film begins with Tanaami's paintings, which the artist animated into a dream world featuring 80 different scenes, each independently complete and freely arrangeable.
