Late Night at The Galleries This Summer at The Art Center Highland Park

Thursday, Jun 10, 2021 6 – 8 pm

1957 Sheridan Rd.
Highland Park, IL 60035

The Art Center Highland Park welcomes people back to live events – safely – with the scheduling of its summer series, Late Night at the Gallery. Starting with a Thursday evening concert on June 10th, 2021, 6-8 PM, TAC is inviting couples, families, individuals to picnic on the front lawn, where they’ll be entertained with a short concert, and then will have a chance to stroll through the galleries to view the exhibits

“We are taking advantage of the good weather that’s coming and also creating exhibit access for people who may be unable to get in here during our daytime gallery hours’, says Executive Director James M. Lynch. “Also, community building is our focus this year, especially after such a difficult year of separateness, and coming together to eat, listen to music, and look at art is a great, low key, way to achieve that.

For this first Late Night TAC is hosting a mini-concert with singer/songwriter Max Subar, who grew up in Highland Park. Subar writes songs that attempt to illuminate the unseen. Intimately expressing his inner self and placing honesty at the forefront of the process, his writing seeks companionship in the listener. His most recent release is a self-titled EP. Produced and recorded throughout 2019 with the close help of friends, the project juxtaposes his solo songwriting process on guitar with a wider palette of instruments and sound.

Starting as early as 5 PM, people are invited to come to The Art Center, 1957 Sheridan Road in Highland Park, and set up for their picnic*. They will play recorded music until Max’s set, which will go from about 6:30 to 7 PM, and then the gallery will be open to view the current exhibit, Ephemera: The Power of Impermanence until 8 PM.

There is a small fee of $5 to reserve space on the lawn but there is no charge for entry to the galleries. Reservations are required and they can be found at: https://www.meetup.com/The-Art-Center-Highland-Park/events/278184307/

The Art Center Highland Park is in its 61st year providing a welcoming space for our diverse communities to experience and participate in the arts.

Reservations are required in order to manage space and safety/health. A small fee of $5 will be charged to offset costs.
