The December 9 Prints and Multiples auction features a strong session of Post War and Contemporary Prints including works by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Alexander Calder. The works presented by Warhol include two screenprints from his 1972 Mao series, an introspective portrait of Jimmy Carter, and an early, iconic portrait of Elizabeth Taylor. The sale continues with a strong session of Vintage French Posters and Prints from the Collection of Janice and Philip Beck, including works by Toulouse-Lautrec, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen and Jules Cheret. Also offered is an exceedingly rare woodcut by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner from a Private Chicago Collection titled Der Ruhm. One of only two known copies in existence, the woodcut is a raw view into the mind of one of the 20th century’s most complex artists during his self-imposed isolation in Davos, Switzerland.
