The Evanston Art Center (EAC) is excited to welcome the public to our upcoming exhibition, Sam Onche | Introspective: Afrocentric Portraits. The exhibition will be on view from October 31 - December 13, 2026 and will be free and open to the public.

Sam Onch is an artist based in Chicago, IL, whose paintings explore Black narratives, cultural identity, and the complexities of everyday life. Born and raised in Nigeria, Onche developed an early appreciation for music and visual storytelling. In his own words, “My collection of paintings is mainly focused on Afrocentric portraiture, celebrating people of color while capturing a range of moments, emotions, and experiences. Through color, abstraction, and figurative storytelling, I seek to illuminate both the complexities and simplicities of the Black experience and honor its beauty.”
