Shai Azoulay: Me & Us

Zolla/Lieberman Gallery is pleased to present SHAI AZOULAY, Me & Us opening on Thursday, March 16th. This will be Azoulay's second solo exhibition at ZLG. 

”The paintings in Me & Us bring together an audience; groups of people who may or may not have a connection. There is someone watching, producing and evincing the desire and longing to belong.” – Shai Azoulay 

Shai Azoulay (b. 1971) is an Israeli born painter that lives and works in Jerusalem. After his mandatory service in the Israel Defense Forces, Azoulay traveled to the Far East where he began his practice as a fine art painter. He returned to Jerusalem in the mid-1990's and began formal study at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design where he earned both his BFA and MFA and remains as faculty in the Fine Art Department. He has exhibited extensively both in Israel and internationally including Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, The Israel Museum in Jerusalem as well as solo and group exhibitions in Chicago, New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Rome. His works are included many public and private collections including The Israel Museum, The Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Ashdod Museum of Art, Bank Hapoalim, Israel Discount Bank, and Bank Leumi. Among the awards that he has received are the Legacy Heritage Fund Prize for Young Artists, Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Tel Aviv (2007), The Osnat Mozes Prize for Painting for a Young Artist, The Artists House, Jerusalem (2007), Creative Encouragement Award, Ministry of Culture and Sport (2011), Ministry of Culture Award (2018) and The Israeli Lottery 'Landau Prize' for Arts and Science (2020). 

Shai Azoulay, Me & Us will be on view at Zolla/Lieberman Gallery from March 16–April 29, 2023.
