Soil Lab: A Global Collaboration will highlight the recent announcement of a major new Danish Arts Foundation (DAF) commission for the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago as part of the 2021 Chicago Architecture Biennial. The commission is the outcome of an open call hosted by the DAF for a project responding directly to CAB’s 2021 edition theme The Available City. The winning project, titled Soil Lab, will include workshops and built elements grounded in bricks, a material with significance to both the Chicago and the Danish architectural vernacular. This program will look at the impact of global collaboration and hear from the design team behind Soil Lab about their design practice and the process around developing the project.

Speakers will include architect and designer Mads Quistgaard of the DAF Committee for Design and Craft along with the Soil Lab design team: Eibhlín Ní Chathasaigh, James Albert Martin, Anne Dorthe Vester, and Maria Bruun.
