Artist Bio: Stephanie Brooks is a conceptual artist, writer, and curator living in Chicago. With the works in this exhibition, she interrogates ways in which intimacy and barriers intersect. Using barricades both literally and metaphorically, she asks viewers to think on what is a barricade and what is intimate in their lives...how do we navigate and negotiate public and private spaces? Her art is included in the permanent collections of The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Microsoft Corporation, and Philip Morris Corporation, as well as many private collections.
