The Impact of the Arts After July 4th

Thursday, Dec 1, 2022 6 – 7:30 pm

1957 Sheridan Rd.
Highland Park, IL 60035

“Art has the ability to achieve therapeutic effects without actual therapy,” advised one trauma therapist just after the July tragedy occurred in Highland Park. Within a couple of weeks after the event the Art Center Highland Park hosted three well-attended artmaking events, joining the efforts of so many local organizations that were committed to helping our community heal. Now the healing continues.

The Art Center is committed to ongoing arts-related programs to help people continue to heal and come together as a community.  TAC has created a long-term agreement with the Lake County organization, Art Impact Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing emotional wellness through creative expression, and one of the groups to assist with the immediate needs in July.

The next Art Impact Project session at TAC will take place Thursday, December 1, from 6-7:30 PM, at The Art Center, 1957 Sheridan Road, Highland Park. Registration is required but the class is free and intended for adolescents to adults. Each 90-minute workshop provides a different project and medium for participants to explore, led by facilitators trained in providing support in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
