Opening November 19, 5 pm
American Contemporary Art began on July 9th, 1962 when an art dealer named Irving Blum unveiled an exhibition of a series of small paintings of Campbell's soup cans at the Ferus Gallery on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles. Fast foward from that first, highly successful Andy Warhol exhibition in 1962 to today's continued enthusiasm for the artists of the pop movement. Warhol remains at the top of the mark along with many other artists of the pop generation whose art remains as cool today as it was back then.
Artists shown in the gallery exhibition include: Andy Warhol, Helen Frankenthaler, Jasper Johns, Robert Cottingham, Robert Rauschenberg, Claus Oldenburg, Donald Sultan, Red Grooms and Jim Dine.
