Celebrate Indigenous voices in Chicago through an evening of poetry and conversation inspired by the exhibition Woven Being.
Join us for an evening of poetry and dialogue that celebrates Indigenous writers in Chicagoland. Featured poets River Kerstetter (Oneida), Mark LaRoque(White Earth Ojibwe), Elise Paschen (Osage), and Mark Turcotte (Turtle Mountain Ojibwe) will share their work, followed by a panel discussion reflecting on poetry as a form of resistance, memory, and cultural expression.
The event will be moderated by Kelly Wisecup, Arthur E. Andersen Teaching and Research Professor at Northwestern University. Both LaRoque and Turcotte are contributors to the forthcoming exhibition catalog for Woven Being: Art for Zhegagoynak / Chicagoland.
