Want to Know What's Going On? Perspective Gallery's current juried exhibition,Vicinity 2026: "What's Going On?" asked artists from our region to respond to Marvin Gaye's call for understanding.

What emerged is a portrait of Chicagoland. Juror Jan Tichy said, "Like Gaye’s song, the exhibition resists a singular answer. It moves between grief and tenderness, alienation and empathy, critique and care. At a moment when public discourse is increasingly fragmented, these artists insist on sustained looking—not to resolve complexity, but to remain present within it." Jan Tichy, is a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the departments of Photography and Art & Technology/Sound Practices. Besides being an educator and curator, Tichy is a contem­porary artist working at the intersection of video, sculpture, architecture and photogra­phy.
