Join painter and Artistic Director Joanna Pinsky for Art Encounter’s Weekend Art Walks, where we explore different gallery districts throughout Chicago and discover new ideas and a variety of artistic media through interactive group discussions.

On Saturday, November 4, Joanna will lead the group through three River North galleries. Beginning at Gallery Victor, we will delve into time and memory in an exhibit featuring five artists. These include paintings by Don Pollack, who explores the history of New France in realistic paintings and maps; paintings by William Blake featuring Civil War reenactments; elegantly detailed “Icons” by Richard Gibbons; furniture by the late Jim Rose; and works by muralist, painter, and multimedia artist Marcos Raya. Then, at Jean Albano Gallery, we will explore works by some of Chicago’s renowned wild Imagist artists, including Gladys Nillson and Karl Wirsum, along with unique sculpture by the late Margaret Wharton and more. We’ll conclude at Addington Gallery with a solo exhibition by printmaker and mixed media artist Deborah Maris Lader, who creates fantastic images of nature.
