A conversation with Industry of the Ordinary (IOTO) Founders Adam Brooks and Mathew Wilson will take place on Friday, September 19th from 6–7:30 pm at SoNa Chicago Contemporary Art. Refreshments will be served. The discussion will be moderated by Molly K. O’Donnell, co-curator at SoNa Chicago. This will be a discussion of the IOTO Summer Residency in the larger context of Industry of the Ordinary’s broader work. This event is being held in conjunction with Chicago Exhibition Weekend. Industry of the Ordinary&nbsp;is a two-person conceptual art collaborative, made up of Chicago- based artists and educators Adam Brooks and Mathew Wilson. Their work is often performative or sculptural, incorporating audience participation and interaction with the artists. Though titled after the hit television show,&nbsp;White Lotus&nbsp;by Alex Katz bears very little relation to HBO’s dark comedy. Rather, the paintings in this series are guided more by the tools of cinema, through Katz's use of monumental canvas, dramatic lighting, and repeating figures.Opening at GRAY’s Chicago gallery on July 11, 2025,&nbsp;White Lotus&nbsp;is a testament not only to Katz’s nonstop creative output, but also his status as one of the most groundbreaking American artists of the 20th and 21st centuries.

3:00pm 3-D Doings Book Launch Featuring Ian Berry, John Corbett, and Jim Dempsey Six years and every bit worth the wait, the giant catalog for&nbsp;3-D Doings: The Imagist Object in Chicago Art, a 2019 exhibition at the Tang Teaching Museum in Saratoga Springs, New York, curated by Tang director Ian Berry and CvsD's Corbett and Dempsey. The book, which is bursting with color, interviews with living Imagists, and a cover sporting actual tufts of hair (!), will be on hand as the curators discuss the concept of the show and the artists in the book. Highlights of the Post War &amp; Contemporary Art auction include an uplifting summer firecracker of a Gertrude Abercrombie painting called&nbsp;Homer Run at White Sox Park, 1964 ($60,000 to 8,000) slightly out of left field for her but no less wonderful and Barry Flanagan’s wildly whimsical bronze sculpture&nbsp;Hare on Curly Bell, 1980 ($150,000 to 250,000) ringing true of a fairy tale yet to be told, both expected to soar leaps and bounds beyond their estimate. Multiple lots by Pop Art masters from opposite sides of the pond linked by 1958 births and shared exploration of decisively outlined stylized human forms, Keith Haring and Julien Opie, anchor the Prints &amp; Multiples sale. The top offerings by the respective artists are Haring’s iconic&nbsp;Untitled&nbsp;(from&nbsp;Three Lithographs),&nbsp;1985 ($50,000 to 70,000) and Opie’s important lenticular suite&nbsp;Walking in London II, 2014 ($60,000 to 80,000). The Golden Triangle is proud to present The Future Past: Indian Art Deco 1925-1950 - the first-ever American exhibition of Indian Art Deco furniture. Celebrated for its bold geometry, rich materials, and modern elegance, Art Deco was the world's first global style, debuting at the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs. In India, this radical aesthetic fused with tropical influences to create a uniquely "Asian Art Deco" language. Unlike European Art Deco, which relied on wood veneers, Indian artisans built with solid hardwood, giving each piece both strength and tactile allure.
