EXPO CHICAGO Returns to Navy Pier

EXPO CHICAGO is returning for its second year at Navy Pier from September 19-22, 2013. Over 125 galleries from 17 different countries and 36 different cities will be exhibiting exceptional modern and contemporary artwork.  A number of emerging spaces will also be featured in the EXPOSURE section, highlighting younger galleries and creating wonderful new opportunities for artists and fair-goers alike to discover new talent and creative spaces.

EXPO ART WEEK events are happening now through September 22, and EXPO preview events kick off on Thursday, September 19 with a special VIP Preview from 12-6pm (admission granted with VIP card only) and a Vernissage sponsored by The Board of Trustees and Women’s Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago from 6-9pm. The Vernissage offers an exclusive first look at artworks from the leading galleries at EXPO while enjoying drinks and light fare. Tickets start at $100 and benefactor packages are available. An important component of EXPO CHICAGO is the extensive programming scheduled throughout the event, including:

EXPO/DIALOGUES: Presented in partnership with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, featuring symposia, panel discussions, and provocative artistic discourse. Held on the /Dialogues stage at the east end of the festival hall; see schedule for daily lineups.

IN/SITU: Provides the opportunity for exhibitors to showcase large-scale installations, site-specific and performative works by select international artists. Situated throughout the showroom floor, IN/SITU provides a dynamic course that connects various points of interest in and around Navy Pier’s Festival Hall. Organized by Shamim M. Momin, director, curator and co-founder of LAND (Los Angeles Nomadic Division).

EXPO VIDEO: A selection of cutting-edge film, video and new media works chosen from this year's international exhibiting galleries, curated by Dean Otto, Program Manager of Film/Video at Minneapolis' Walker Art Center.

Special exhibitions will also be on display featuring numerous arts organizations including the Chicago Artists Coalition, Bad at Sports, The Conservation Center, and many more.  View full list here.
