Chicago Arts District

COVID-19 Update: Recent 2nd Friday events in the Chicago Arts District have been held virtually. We hope to resume in-person events soon, so please check our website and social media channels for the most up to date info. Thank you for your support and we and our artists and galleries look forward to seeing you in person again soon!

Since the early 1960s, South Halsted Street near 18th Street has been home to a large number of artists living and working in the mixed-use artists’ community known as the Chicago Arts District. Launched by the Podmajersky family, this cluster of street-level art galleries and upper floor studios put the Pilsen neighborhood on the map as a go-to art destination.

On the second Friday of each month approximately 25 artists, designers, and tastemakers open their studio doors to the public for 2nd Fridays Gallery Night, from 6-10pm. The event features visual and performance art, installation, photography, sculpture, collectible books, furniture, artisanal home goods and more. Outside of 2nd Fridays, most studios have weekend hours or are available by appointment. Please see our website for additional details and information on connecting with the artists.

During 2nd Fridays, visit our info center and pick up an event map at 1945 S. Halsted, Ground Floor

Event hours: Every 2nd Friday of the month, 6-10pm. See our website for info on additional or special events.
