El Schomburg | Espacio de Arte Interdisciplinario

Founded by interdisciplinary artist and curator Brenda Torres-Figueroa, El Schomburg | Espacio de Arte Contemporáneo is a Chicago-based platform for contemporary art, performance, and cultural research rooted in Puerto Rican and Caribbean diasporic experiences. The space hosts exhibitions, residencies, and public programs that center decolonial practices and intergenerational dialogue. Inspired by the legacy of Afro–Puerto Rican historian Arturo Alfonso Schomburg, El Schomburg reimagines the archive as a living, communal site—one where art, memory, and resistance converge to build new languages of belonging and visibility.
