T. Mari Gallery

KNOTS, a joint female exhibition by local artist&nbsp;Ann Latinovich&nbsp;and Spanish artist&nbsp;Eli Pla.&nbsp; KNOTS is a portrait of relationship. It is a record of what becomes possible when two people&nbsp;choose to meet through presence, through creation, and through a visual language that arrived&nbsp;before spoken words. The artists connected through a shared creative language over a spoken one as neither really speaks the other's native tongue.&nbsp;The knots in this exhibition represent both entanglement and care. Each artist brought their own&nbsp;knots into the relationship, carried from memory, history, and personal experience.Their dialogue turned into art.&nbsp; Knots is a record of presence, of process, and of the quiet intimacy that becomes possible when we allow ourselves to be fully seen. Through bold colors, dynamic compositions, and evocative imagery, Jamaal Durr captures moments of courage. His pieces often feature figures that embody resilience and serves as visual affirmations to overcome fear and reclaim the narrative.Durr’s work comes from a sincere, introspective space where he seeks to resolve issues of his identity. From childhood to adulthood, to fatherhood, and everything in between, every piece acts as a critical thinking session that brings him closer to understand himself. The imperative inner dialogue effectively define his art and his role in the world.It is a reminder that, despite differences, we all possess the capacity for resilience and the power to overcome our fears. Every first and last Saturday of the month.&nbsp;Audrey will touch on famous Chicago designers and artists that have influenced the local architectural landscape and the ceramic works of Dara, Fawn and Zoe nearly a century later! Discuss Edgar Miller’s legacy, the female architects redefining the Chicago skyscraper, and how Chicago’s distant brownstones came to be. Artists: Dara Schuman, Fawn Penn, Zoe MinzenbergerWhat exists in the space between artists working in proximity? In Interplay, Dara Schuman, Fawn Penn, and Zoe Minzenberger’s work converses with one another outside of the confines of the studio. For the past three years, they have been working alongside each other, sharing tools, ideas, meals, all while developing personal practice.&nbsp;Interplay prompts the questions, how have small acts of support cultivated a creative environment between artists? What type of space for individual exploration does that preserve? Motifs of home, cityscapes, and urban experience inadvertently cross pollinate between each practice. This show challenges viewers to imagine the potential of tangential influence that your coworkers and friends have on your own practices and mindsets.Dara is inspired by her everyday world that sprawls around her, living in a highrise in Chicago. Schuman aims to embody the city’s structure with a touch of fantasy.Fawn’s work encompasses the habits of moving through an urban landscape. Time spent in transit became a place of self reflection and processing. Their work shows quiet moments amongst the chaos.&nbsp;Zoe's work explores architectural details that capture them during their daily bike commute around the city. Zoe documents cast relief and masonry details influenced by growing up in a two flat in Rogers Park, Chicago.&nbsp;

Interplay

Opening 7–10pm, September 22, 2023On view through September 29th, 2023&nbsp;Drago captures the moment in time, his thoughts, and who he is as an artist. His focus is to express the beauty and create what inspires him like the innocence of a hug or a feeling from a kiss. Everything he produces resonates with an inner conception, a passionate introspection. What he designs is personal, innocent, and unrestrained.T. Mari Gallery will host Drago and his series, Letters Lost. It will be on display September 22nd through 29th.&nbsp;Letters Lost Series is the searching for something that already exists. It’s the combination of the artist’s history and the persevering of his dreams.&nbsp;Drago will perform and create artwork live in front of an audience, September 22nd at the gallery, starting at 7pm with classical music accompaniment.&nbsp;I’m happy to be the first gallery in Chicago to showcase his work. He lives, works, and exhibits in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY.&nbsp;It will be an exciting evening, a wonderful moment to witness and to be part of his performance.&nbsp;&nbsp;
