Join Aviva Lehmann, Senior Vice President, American Art, Heritage Auctions New York, for a guided tour of highlights from the remarkableAmerican Art auction to take place on May 15, 2024. Works on display will include Agnes Pelton’s exceptional Purple Star Icon – a rare piece among her transcendental abstractions. Remarkably, only four of such transcendent works have graced the auction block in the twenty-nine years between 1995 and the present. This larger variant of Purple Star Icon, transcending the boundaries of the original with its more diminutive dimensions, was known only through archival records until now. Other highlights include iconic American scenes by Joseph Christian Leyendecker, a Rembrandt Peale portrait and Luminist landscapes by Sanford Robinson Gifford.

Instrumental in establishing dozens of new auction records, Aviva has brought masterworks by Motherwell, O’Keeffe, Frankenthaler, Rockwell, Leyendecker, and more to the auction block at Heritage. Renowned for her cataloging and dubbed an American Art “power broker” by Artnews.com, Aviva speaks at museums and institutions nationwide.

Also available to view April 29 – May 3, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
