Sacrifice and Revelations

We open our 2023 art programming with a bang as Chicago-based painter Jared Brook makes his debut solo show, Sacrifice and Revelations.

Exploring queer figurative abstraction as we've seen in his paintings in last summer's group show EDGING, Brook continues to pay close attention to the affective contours of queer intimacy, pathos, and desire through perspectival techniques and proximity to the spaces that the figures occupy on his panels. As viewers, we share the artist’s space within the fourth wall, bringing us inside the intimate spaces that the artist shares with his subjects.
