Treasures from the Law Offices of Abraham Lincoln Preview Reception Featuring a Gallery Talk from Renowned Lincoln Scholar Harold Holzer
This gallery talk will draw from decades of Harold Holzer's experience researching, writing, and lecturing about Abraham Lincoln and the political culture of the Civil War era.
Holzer is a leading academic authority on Lincoln and winner of The 2015 Gilder-Lehrman Lincoln Prize and the 2008 National Humanities Medal. The Director of Hunter College's Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute, Holzer has authored many books and appears frequently on television as a Lincoln expert.
Drawing from the Auction Preview of the Alfred Orendorff Archive of manuscripts, furniture, and other ephemera from Lincoln's Springfield law office, Holzer will discuss the role this office and its contents played in Lincoln's life, politics, and the legacy of Lincoln's tenure as president of the U.S.
The pieces featured in the lecture will be offered in a dedicated sale on July 30.
