Vanitas: Contemporary Florals

Friday, Jul 9 – Aug 15, 2021

215 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202

The well-known still life tradition of the 17th-century Dutch masters, vanitas uses symbolism as reminders of death's inevitability. In contrast, the artists of "Vanitas: Contemporary Florals" reinvent this tradition through an optimistic lens, allowing the beauty of a blossom and the hope of Spring's rebirth to act as symbols of life's resilience. We invite you to join us as we celebrate this promise of new life.

The exhibiting artists include Michael Lynn Adams, Jacqueline Kamin, Hagop Keledjian, Jean Lightman, Yana Movchan, Christopher Pierce, and John Traynor.

This event will be held both in-person and online. In-person attendance will be monitored, and masks will be required to ensure everyone’s health and safety.
