The Jean Albano Gallery is pleased to introduce Going Hard in the Paint (Water Based), a new body of work from Zack Wirsum.

Zack Wirsum was born in Chicago in 1979 and currently lives and works in Chicago. He received his BFA in painting at The School of the Art Institute in 2002 and also attended Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA. As the son of Lori Gunn and the late Karl Wirsum, Zack continues the tradition of important Chicago artists with his unique painting style. We are proud to have represented Zack's exciting work throughout his career, for over 15 years.

Zack's latest body of work is a colorful and psychedelic series that focuses on basketball hoops, nets, and backboards observed in the wild. The paintings' bright colors and undulating lines blur the distinction between abstract and figurative, but the familiar titles and driveway hoops bring back memories of neighborhood basketball games.

We would be happy for you to preview the exhibit in advance of the opening reception. Please call 312.440.0770 to make an appointment.

Opening Reception: Friday, September 9, 2022, 5:00 – 8:00 pm
