Located in the heart of the River North Gallery District for over two decades, Addington Gallery focuses on dynamic contemporary painting, both abstract and representational, with many of the gallery’s artists staking their claim somewhere in between categories. Process and materials play a large role with most of the artists represented, who work in a wide range of contemporary styles, subjects, and media. Hilton Contemporary

For nearly three decades, Alan Koppel Gallery has played a leading role in introducing contemporary international artists to American audiences. In addition to organizing extensive solo and group exhibitions of new work by gallery artists, the gallery maintains an inventory of select primary and secondary works by leading artists from the major movements in 20th Century American and European Art. Artists to first exhibit with us in Chicago include renown artists such as Robert Moskowitz, Bruce Conner and Jacques Villeglé, mid-career artists like Edward Lipski, and the estate of Eugéne Leroy. In the mid-1990s, Alan Koppel’s successful private gallery turned public with the opening of his first space in Chicago’s John Hancock Center where the first solo exhibition was new work by Peter Halley. In 2001, the gallery moved and expanded its presence to a 4,000 square foot gallery in Chicago’s River North gallery district. The inaugural blockbuster exhibition paired new work by Jacques Villeglé with furniture by Jean Prouve. Past exhibitions include new work by artists Halley, Leroy, Villeglé, Lipski and Bosse, as well as shows by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Vik Muniz, Philip Guston, Diane Arbus, Mark Tansey, Louise Bourgeois, Marcel Duchamp, Hans Bellmer, Robert Frank, Walker Evans, Andy Warhol and Ed Ruscha. Mongerson Gallery

The International Currents Gallery of the John David Mooney Foundation exhibits and offers residencies to international artists whose challenging work push boundaries and explore new territories.&nbsp;Lectures, workshops, and Master Classes are interwoven into Chicago’s diverse creative communities; exhibitions run concurrently in three galleries, each 4,000 sq. ft.&nbsp;Since 2022, the Foundation’s Art Bridge Fellowships have supported “At-Risk” artists from war-torn countries, including 16 Ukrainian artists and one Palestinian artist from the West Bank.&nbsp;The Albert I. Goodman Collection of wartime paintings, posters, and drawings from the 1960 and 70’s is on view in the third-floor gallery.&nbsp;This unique and important Collection serves as a study center for Chicago colleges and universities engaging in cross-cultural investigations.&nbsp;Ongoing are the Foundation’s environmental projects helping to control Climate Change in vibrant new ways through Art. The River North Design District (RNDD) is a pocket design community outside of the Merchandise Mart, which boasts interior design offerings accessible to both designers and consumers, providing the Chicago community opportunities to be inspired, explore and belong.
