Chicago Architecture Center
Update: Beginning Friday, July 3, we’re thrilled to welcome you back to the Chicago Architecture Center and Chicago Architecture Foundation Center River Cruises aboard Chicago’s First Lady. The Center’s new hours are 10am–4pm, Th–M; admission remains $12 for adults, $8 for students with valid ID and FREE to CAC members and children ages 5 and younger.
At the Center, you’ll notice we’ve taken full advantage of our temporary closure by improving and updating our two largest exhibits. Look for new models on display in our spacious Drake Family Skyscraper Gallery and more than 30 new buildings in the Chicago City Model Experience! Read more about these exciting changes in The Architect’s Newspaper.
The Chicago Architecture Center (CAC) is the city’s new all-in-one architecture experience: a museum with two floors of exhibits and a gateway to more than 85 boat, walking, bus, bike, and L tours. Whether you tour downtown or a neighborhood, our expert docent guides will tell you the stories behind the area’s iconic skyscrapers, elegant hotels and legendary homes.
At the Center, see the country’s largest 3D model of Chicago boasting more than 4,200 buildings. In the skyscraper gallery, walk through super-sized tall building models from around the globe and learn about Chicago’s history of innovation. Discover the secrets and stories of skyscrapers and the architects who created them, from the very first tall building to the mega skyscrapers of today, including the 1,000 meter (3280 ft) Jeddah Tower. Learn why Chicago is considered the city of neighborhoods, catch a glimpse of the future city in the ‘Me to We’ gallery, and more!
